Family Series: Five Love Languages of Children
Chikaming: This week begins our Family Series Five Love Languages of Children. This six-week series includes a family meal, daycare, and the materials needed for a small group book study. As we teach our students to fill one another’s buckets, we try to fill the buckets of the kids in our lives. Five Love Languages of Children helps provide the reader determine how to best ‘fill the bucket’ of each individual child in their life.
This Family opportunity brought to us in partnership with the River Valley Ministerial Association and Harbor Country Rotary Club. If you have not signed up for this exciting opportunity and would like to participate, give our school office a call today at 269 426-4204!

End of Second Marking Period
It’s hard to believe that we are already near the end of the 1st semester of school, which means we are very close to the halfway point of the school year. During the week of January 14th, all students will be participating in the Winter Benchmark Assessments. These assessments will include STAR Math, STAR Reading, and AIMSWEB Reading and Math. The data and results of these assessments will be utilized in a variety of ways.
The first will be to determine how much the students have grown in their academics since the beginning of the school year as they have acquired a litany of new skills. The 2nd will be to create new Math and Reading Strategy Groups. Finally, the 3rd way the data will be used will be to determine new Accelerated Reader goals and reading levels for choosing library books.
All scores from these assessments will be reported to parents during Parent/Teacher Conferences in February. Please be sure to discuss with your child the importance of doing their best on these assessments. Even small things like getting enough sleep and eating a good breakfast can impact how well a student may do on the tests.
