We had a wonderful last week of school, celebrating accomplishments and wrapping up a great school year. Many students saw lots of growth this year in their reading and math skills. Others grew in their social/behavioral development – which is an important step needed in order to be ready for learning.
It is a privilege to be able to partner with you as we help our students become life-long learners that are prepared to change the world! That change will come when our students commit themselves to kindness and hard work, perseverance, and compassion, using the academic skills they are acquiring.
The 2018-19 school year will bring a few exciting changes to our buildings. The summer will be spent preparing for those changes and doing some upgrades to our buildings and grounds. If your child plans to participate in Summer’s Cool (mornings) and/or our afternoon program, please be sure to contact the school office as soon as possible so that we can prepare accordingly.
We still have a few spots available in our Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms. Be sure to send any four or five-year-olds you know our way before space runs out!
As you and your families enjoy the fun that summer brings–the camping, baseball games, picnics, and beach… please be sure to take every opportunity to continue your child’s growth. Read together, have them keep a journal of their daily adventures, walk, ride bikes, swim and play together, talk about the math they experience in everyday life… and read together some more!
Take some time to find opportunities for random acts of kindness, doing chores and building responsibility – laughing and playing together.
Have a Sensational Summer!

Standards-based grading measures your student’s mastery of the reported standards for a class, or how well your student understands the material in class.
The goal of this approach is to provide the teacher, student, and parent as accurate a picture as possible of the student’s learning and to encourage a dialogue about how the student can master the material for the class.
Summer School is July 9th through August 9th
Invitations to Summer School went home with students on Friday. Invitations were based on student need as we seek to help all students maintain their growth over the school year. If your child received an invitation to Summer School, please strongly consider participation.

River Valley Athletics
Season Sport Passes
If you are planning on coming to many sporting events at River Valley it might be a good idea to consider our family pass ticket option. This pass allows admission for everyone in the immediate family to enter all RV athletic events by simply showing the pass or telling the ticket taker the number for your pass.
Each family pass costs $150 and is good for all home sports in all seasons! It is a great bargain for your family and a one-time cost for the whole year!
Tickets for all games (home and away) can be purchased from your school office for $3.00 each.
